It's not old, it's Vintage!
I will be the first to say that when I was younger the thought of going into a charity shop would be a nightmare, the same question would crop up, "Who would want to shop in there?" well now it's 2012 and I am proud to say I shop in charity shops. Yes, people donate clothes and accessories that they don't want anymore but it doesn't mean they are not worth having. One man's junk, is another man's treasure. I have found many pieces of clothing that I show off and when people ask where I got it from, they immediately say "really? wow!"
£2.50 bargain!
All these bits I got from The British Heart Foundation shop in Basildon town center, I owe the British Heart Foundation everything because they helped my nan significantly after her heart attack. They offered advice and counceling for her, this was a hard time because she is very strong and independent; this was a real sudden turn of events and she felt like she would never be able to look after herself again. But they made her feel like her life did not have to end and she could overcome it. And she did!

I really haven't been able to do any marathons, bike rides or sponsored silences but I can do my bit by instead of hitting the high street shops I can take some time and look in the charity shops. I think if you really look hard enough you will find your treasure.

I wear my heart for my nan, who will wear yours for?
To even know that the £10 I spent in there today will be going towards helping other families cope with the after effects of a heart attack, is one of the best feelings you could have. So take a little time and have a look around, because you never know it could happen to you and isn't it a nice feeling to know you could have the best support available?
I have shown my support, isn't it about time you showed yours?

It's nice to see somebody actually admitting that they like shopping in charity shops - as well as the fact that you can seriously pick up some major bargains!
ReplyDeleteI actually volunteer in a British Heart Foundation store and it was only a few months that I started that my Grandpa's heart started playing up (?) and he had to have a pacemaker fitted and ever since then, he's been donating to the BHF every month.
Sorry for blabbering on :) xo
